This half-day workshop is intended to assist employers in developing customized Physical Demands Analyses(PDAs). A PDA is a document that describes the physical components of a job, and is an integral part of a good disabiltiy management program.

As an employer, you may find it challenging to find appropriate light, modified, or alternate work for injured workers ready to return in some capacity. Much of that challenge is trying to identify which parts of the job or which tasks a worker can perform safely. Many job descriptions specify duties required, but the physical demands and tasks are not likely identified or quantified. Without that information, it is difficult to know which duties a returning w orker can perform. Sometimes workers are inadvertently returned to work that is unsuitable, or not given the opportunity to work until they can perform their full-duties, because suitable work is not able to be identified. Having thorough up-to-date PDA’s can help!

This small group session is interactive in nature and will provide opportunity for attendees to apply what they've learned through case studies, videos, pictures, and group discussion.

This half-day workshop will assist employers with their development of a modified work program.

Worksite based interventions, such as modified duties, is the most effective and efficient way to manage injury related costs and to assist injured workers to return to work quickly and safely. However, identifying modified duties or knowing what steps to follow when designing a return to work program can be difficult.

This half-day, interactive workshop is designed to provide:

• the framework and tools needed to develop, implement or improve a modified work program
• guidelines and tools to assist in the return to work of an injured employee
• ideas and examples of appropriate modified duties

The small group setting allows for great discussion, interaction and case studies review. Attendees are encouraged to share their workplace issues and challenges related to modified duties.

Each full-day workshop is intended to assist employers in developing strategies to reduce worker discomfort and improve individual and organizational efficiency.

The courses are designed for supervisors, human resources staff, facilities and health and safety individuals responsible for ergonomics.

Learned strategies will include:

• Short-term interventions such as identifying workplace hazards with minimal modification
• Long-term strategies that enable one to accommodate injured and special needs employees
• Providing information on basic health related issues
• These small group sessions are interactive in nature.

For the industrial workshop - This course will help employers working in manfacturing, engineering and construction settings. Learn evaluation techniques to adapt jobs tasks to the worker's ability. In a group case study format, you will learn proper manual handling, job tasks, equipment and workplace design. Studies show that worker's who are taught how to safely perform their job greatly reduce their risk of injury.
